I'll be the first of many to tell you to get Douglas Spotted Eagle's Vegas book. It is unbeatable. He is a regular poster on this forum under the tag DSE.

You can get the book about anywhere, but why not go to the source?

It's called Vegas 6 Editing Workshop. I've got it and it's definitely worth picking up. It's easy to just pick up a book to help you through problems than maybe going back through the training DVDs ( which are also worth getting ).

Also, if you haven't done this already, print the Vegas help menu. It's a couple of hundred pages long and details most of the functions in Vegas. I took the Vegas disc to Kinkos and had the print and bind it when I first began using Vegas several years ago. Referred to it constantly while I was learning the program.

The various DVDs (VAAST and elsewhere) are a must have, too. Their advantage is that they SHOW you how to use the program, rather than merely telling.

Still another excellent resource for training and tips are Edward Troxell's news letters.

Final Cut Pro is still way more known that Sony Vegas. It's pretty much the editing program for a MAC.

Barnes and Noble with definitely get DSE's Vegas book for you if you ask.
It is available online from them and I have seen it on the shelves at B&N too, but not every one of their stores would have it. Amazon and other online stores carry Vegas 6 Editing Workshop too.

That is far and away the Vegas book to get.
