Just installed VF 2.0c under Win2000. Under CD Settings, my burner is not listed. I've tried updating the aspi layer as suggested in another post, but no luck. I don't believe it's my burner because I run a dual boot system, and it works fine under Win98 SE. Any ideas?
...but in the mean time, how did you update your ASPI layers? And do you have another video editing software on your system that could have changed your layers?
Updated using ForceAspi 1.7 and also tried the latest from the Adaptec website. Neither worked. I have VW 4 and Premiere, but I also run them under my Win98 SE.
Oh, you had VW before?? So did I...I'm getting red in the face just thinking about that nightmare program.
I think VW changes your ASPI layers, and that is why people have problems after that. (Someone let me know if I'm wrong). I'm not a computer guru, but VW made me learn a bit about computers. I have WinMe and a LG CD-RW drive.
I solved my problem by installing CDRWIN, that program changed my aspi layer, and I got my CD burner back. I don't know why, but it worked. I had 4 programs that would not recognize my CD burner, and after intalling CDRWIN they all recognized it.
Thanks Stiffler...I'll let you know as soon as get a chance to try it out. Yes, I have VW, and unlike most of the people over in their forum, I didn't have audio sync problems, but I was looking for something that gave me a little more control over the audio of my clips. So far VF is very nice and will probably be my primary editor, but VW isn't going anywhere yet.
Turns out I didn't have to try your suggestion. Had a big crash this morning, and in reinstalling all of my drivers and such, my burner just happened to show up. Thanks for the tip though, and I will keep it in mind if it happens again. BTW, it's good to see a familiar face from the VW forum.
Hay, JodoKast...It is nice to see happy users in this forum!
So, did you reformat your drives back to the original configuration? If you did, then you probley don't have VW on your computer anymore, right???
I have posted my thoughts that VideoWave changes your ASPI layers, and no other programs will recognize your CD burner after that. I could be wrong, but no one has ever corrected me on this issue, so maybe it is true..?? And former VideoWave users have expirenced this (but not all former users).
If VideoWave does screw up your ASPI layers, then maybe my suggestion for people that have the above issue, they should just reformat their computer??
I don't know...anyone have some comments about this?
I have been having a similar problem. VF does not see my burner. I Emailed Sonic Tech Support, and they indicated that the problem might be related to the fact that my burner is number 2 on the IDE chain, behind my DVD drive.
All of my other related programs find the burner without problems.
This has not been a huge problem, because back in my VW4 days, I got used to using NERO for my burning work. I would, however, like to try VF's burning routine just for comaparison purposes.
What is this CDRWIN program, and do you think it might address this issue?
Actually Stiffler, I didn't have to reformat or anything, just restore a Win2000 file (system.ced). However, it did restore the default drivers that Win2000 uses when you first install it, so I had to update all of those. The only programs I had to reinstall were MotherBoard Monitor and Ez CD Creator(hello!). I'm guessing that had something to do with it. VW is still on the system. BTW, I use version 4, so I don't know if the ASPI layer is still an issue since only VW 5 is supposed to burn cd's. My burner is also number 2 on the IDE chain, so I don't know if that's your problem Kcarroll. You might want to try using ForceASPI to see if that works. Here's a thread you may have seen with the link: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=12&MessageID=100291. If it doesn't, try removing all burning software you have, and before reinstalling it, run ForceASPI again. Check to see if your burner shows up, and then try reinstalling your burning software.
