No compatible Video codec found???

Hello,
I was editing a video with settings that I have been using for the past year. When I went to render the video with the settings I have used. I get a pop -up that says "An error occurred while creating the media file _____________"

"No compatible video codec was found."

What I have been doing is rendering my videos in Cineform codec. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

Thanks.

This is a very predictable message that you would get in the following scenario.
You have created Cineform files somewhere sometime - but now they are being pulled into a new platform (rebuild or OS change) - and as you choose to render to a Cineform codec - it does not have license to do so. The reason you may not have been aware of this - because the Cineform decode module is a separate install and does not need the license for that phase of workflow and post production.

Thanks.
I have installed the cineform viewer on my computer. What do I need to do now?

I'm not quite clear about your situation. I understand that you have been able to render with the cineform codec, but now can't. If you have a new machine you need to transfer your cineform license to that machine. If you have never owned the codec, you'll have to buy it.

If all you need is to be able to import Cineform clips into Vegas, you may be able to get what you need by downloading and installing the free GoPro Studio software. GoPro purchased Cineform several years ago, and installing this software installs the basic Cineform codec.

You'll still need to purchase a Cineform license if you want to use the advanced encoding features of their full-fledged codec.
