No Device Detected......

I have a Sony DCR-IP1 MicroMV camera and I get the following message when trying to capture in Sony Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0a.....
The device "Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device" could not be opened.
I've used Pinnacle Studio 8 and Ulead VideoStudio 7 in the past and have had no problems with that program recognizing my camera. I even deleted both of those programs...still no luck. I purchased this software thinking that since Sony is behind it, it will deal with the MicroMV situation a little better. And yes....I am very aware that many of you, after reading lots of posts, dislike the MicroMV cameras. But, I am stuck with this camera and I have to make the best of it. Any help to get this camera to work with Screenblast is appreciated.

I believe that Screenblast Movie Studio will only capture from firewire (IEEE1394) DV devices. I assume the Sony MicroMV camera does NOT look like a firewire DV device because Pinnacle had to add special support for it to work and it didn’t work for a long time before they patched their software.

Yes, they are NOW but Sony just bought this software from SonicFoundry so I would expect better support for Sony products in the future.

And apparently so is Sony because i read that they are dropping support for the MicroMV format. Too many customers were complaining about poor video quality. I would stay away from all the new formats unless you are prepared to buy something that may be unsupported in a year or two. That’s the pain of being an early adopter. Try to sell the camera on eBay and get a miniDV camcorder. You’ll be glad you did.

Make sure the capture directory and drive setting in the capture application point to a directory and drive that exist on your system - that can cause this kind of issue sometimes.

I've done all of that. I even borrowed a friend's MiniDV camera...which by the by DID work. So....it is something with the MicroMV camera. I may take JohnnyRoy's advice.
