No DVD drive shows: only ISO Writer

After preparing a project, all of a sudden the only option I get for burning hardware is ISO WRITER--and it writes to my hard drive.

I've been using the same DVD burner on DVDA for a few years now. I've never had a problem before. It's not a case of incompatability.

Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Does the burner still play DVDs in other apps?

Can you still burn DVDs in any other apps?

Yes, it was odd. It just decided yesterday to ignore my drive.

In the forums I discovered one solution where Sony had made some DLL's available, and another post where 2.0b version (i think) solved that problem.

So, I cut the corner and just re-installed the 3.0c update.

All is well for now, apparently. I wouldn't be suprised if there was a part II to this emergency....knowing my luck.
