no file import no more

I was just contacted by a guy who has a strange problem with Vegas Video:

Suddenly he isn't able to handle any file format in Vegas Video. Not even files which were captured within Vegas Video before!!?? He cannot import these files and he cannot drag the files from the mediapool into the timeline.

Drag and Drop -> Error report:
"None of the Files dropped on Vegas Video could be opened."
File->Import Media -> Error report:
"Warning: An error occured while opening one or more files. The file is an unsupported format"

The strangest thing about it:
All the other players and video softwares he has installed open these files without any problems, only Vegas Video rejects them.

Any ideas what might be wrong there?

Tnx Marco

Thanks Gary. Hehe, this is exactly what I proposed too.
Do you have a guess what happened there on his VV installation?
I never heard of such a problem before (in fact I never heard of any real problem around VV except wrong settings).

Somehow the file i/o plug-ins became unregistered. A re-install of Vegas should fix this. Did the guy with the problem move some of the SF app folders around maybe?
