No Frame Image On Timeline

I have Sony VMS 10 HD Platinum Suite. First time user. Just loaded my first DVAVI file onto the timeline to experiment with different editing tools.

There are no image frames on the timeline. However, the images are visible in the Preview Box.

Why don't I see the individual frames on the timeline?

View->Waveforms and Frames
You may have accidentally switched it off.

Waveforms & Frames are checked ON.

This is about a 50-minute video. There is a blank black frame at the beginning of the timeline and a blank blue frame at the end of the time line and an actual color video frame right in the middle of the timeline. The rest of the timeline is white.

This is something different.

Look under Options -> Preferences -> Video -> Thumbnails to show in video events.
Set it to "All."
