No GPU Available with GTX 650

Recently I purchased a new PC
i7 - 4770 3.4Ghz
H87M-Plus Main board
8GB ram 1333Mhz (upgrading to 16GB at 1666Mhz)
Roland UA-25 USB Sound card
and Invidia GTX650 with 2GB

While rendering, Vegas 11 Platinum shows "No GPU Available" (see screen capture)

How can I fix this?
Is this a GPU fail?
I have upgraded the Invidia driver to 331.65 as in the article in CSS website.
but still I get No GPU.

There are a number of folks that have posted similar issues. It appears that not all of the newer GPUs are recognized by Movie Studio 11 or 12. It is over 2 years old now.

Sorry that I don't have a fix. I would have recommended an updated driver, but you've already done that. You can try downloading a trial of Movie Studio 12 and see if that fixes the issue. I have a 650Ti (327.23) which is recognized by Movie Studio 12.

Even if the GTX 650 were recognized it would hardly speed up your rendering - it would rather slow it down significantly.
That is what I and other users with fast CPUs like yours see.

From the Pro forum it seems that 1 or better 2 x GTX 570 or 580 improves rendering speed when you have such a fast CPU.
Best results are obtained with the old driver 296.10 while newer drivers might be slower or even make your machine unstable (tried it here a few days ago).

There is also some positive talk about the new AMD R9 280 or 290.

Very interesting!

Do you have any suggest links to the pro forum?

With my 650Ti with 3770k, I get modest enhancements in speed (~10%).

What you gain or lose from the GPU "acceleration" depends very much upon what you render from and to.
It also depends on settings like Preview RAM, Rendering threads etc.

In my setup (rendering from AVCHD 1080i 24 Mbps to Main Concept mpeg2 full HD at some 31 Mbps) chosing GPU assist immediately makes my CPU usage go down from 80-100% to some 15-30% - which combined with the GTX 650 running at more than 90% decreases rendering speed to less than half.

Thanks for the links...There is some good reading in there.
