It does have a connector for a lens controller but just what that is I've not had a definative answer to. It lloks like you can connect a LANC controller into there with an adaptor cable though judging by at least one of the pictures of the unit on display at IBC.

could it have to do with the way the lense works?, it just has to have a different type of connector? (or could it be sony being sony and since they didn't do a proprietary storage format, they had to do a proprietary lens connector).

Only my own speculation but I think Sony have done something very unique here. If you have a broadcast interchangeable lens then you need a lens controller. Quite a different beast to LANC which is a Sony serial protocol. So it looks like with the correct adaptor cable you can use one of those OR with the appropriate adaptor you can also use a LANC controller.
If I'm right then they've done a good job. My only concern is the connector itself appears not to be a Lemo type of connector with mechanical locking, just looks like something a bit cheaper that's only a friction fit.

The connector on the EX is a standard connector. You just need an adaptor supplied by any company such as Libec to work with their LANC controllers.

It has been several years since I used lenses that had the servo
with controls on the pan handles but seamed like they were
not lanc but actual pots and one setup was a mechanical to the ring.

Not such a big deal but more costs to deal with. If you have a lanc on
your tripod pan handle now you know how much a joy they are. Zoe
was a good purchase for us.

The SDI out is a real plus.

Thanks for answering.
