No links to Vegas on Sony.com?

Why is it imposible to get to this page from Sony.com?

There are two reasons that come to mind:
1. Sony doesn't give a rats ass about it's media software.
2. Bad web design.

If you search for "vegas" on sony.com you get a link to http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/. That page makes it look like the only product is SoundForge. It's a failed attempt at copying Apple's site. Apple is at least smart enough to make it clear that they sell things other than their featured product. Here it's not so clear.

The reason I'm grumpy is because I've turned a number of friends onto Vegas and I can't even tell them how to navigate to the download site. I can't find it myself. I have to go over to SoundForge.com and get re-directed.

Sony, please don't kill Vegas.

How hard is it to choose Vegas from the drop-down menu under Products?

I just went to the Sony page and type Vegas and pressed search. I scanned the results for about ten seconds and found the Vegas Family product page.

http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/products/vegasfamily.asp

From there you just need to figure out which product you want and you're two click from the demo.

Or use this link:

www.sony.com/mediasoftware

It will automaticly re-direct you to the proper site.

Or, goto the screenbast.com site

Or sony pictures digital (not sure of theirs)

So it's imposible to come to sony.com and find out about Vegas unless you already know about Vegas and are determined to find out about it.

It's a pretty poor job of integration. You'd think that sony.com would have a "Video Editing" option in one of the drop downs.

Like I said, either they are not paying attention or they don't care.

Try finding a DVW500 from Sony.com as well. You have to go through "Business Solutions", and I'm sure they're trying as hard as they can to sell as many DVW500s as they can.

It's the same problem with most large multi-nationals that are split over many divisions.

???????

On the bottom right of the page you are talking about is an ad for Vegas +DVD.

Unless they just now put it there.

I think those ads appear on a rotating basis.

I think this topic has been covered before--the former Sonic Foundry products are now products of Sony Pictures Digital, which is a separate corporation.

That said, it's still a bit annoying when you go to the Sony Pictures website and find links everywhere to Screenblast, but not one link to the pro software...

I think that's because SPD hasn't actuatly released any SF made product except for a new Sound Forge. I'm sure when the next Vegas and Acid are relaesed they will be on the site more.

Also, Sony doesn't really need to announce they have the olf SF products. On "The Screen Savers" monday, they talked about the new loop software for the mac (garage band i think?) and Leo (the host) said "it's just like ACID."

:)
