No more Ignite Pro from FXHome - for the time being anyway

Dexcon wrote on 11/16/2021, 3:33 AM

In looking at FXHome's website, I've just noticed that Ignite Pro no longer appears as a product. On checking their forum, I discovered this thread from earlier this month:

https://community.fxhome.com/discussion/57642/ignite-pro-update

In the thread, an FXHome staff member commented:

We've removed Ignite from the FXhome website as of this update. We’re working hard on improving a number of things including the plugin tech, effect variety, quality, and support. Keep an eye on your emails for upcoming plugin news - you'll definitely be interested in what we're working on 😄

It will be interesting to see what the new product will be.

I too am curious as to what they will be bringing out. Right now, I have Ignite 5, but I also have Hitfilm Pro 2021 and wondering if there will be a notice if and when the new version of Ignite will be released to update Hitfilm Pro.

It will be interesting for sure what they have installed for the next version.

My gut feeling... is that they utterly killed Ignite Pro and making statements that there is something else revolutionary that is coming soon, lol, oh please. I have seen this backward step in so many media and software companies after an acquisition far too often.

I knew something like this was coming the minute Artlist bought FXHome. Just never expected it to be so soon !

duh....

Haven't tried again, but last time I noticed that I can't reactivate - can't contact server.

My version of Ignite is bought on Humble Bundle which only allowed for 1 device only... and currently need to frequently switching on & off on my 2 devices (laptop and desktop)

hmmm...

@Steve_Rhoden which brings to mind, what is going to happen to Vegas Post.... I do have Hitfilm Pro 2021, so don't really worry much about it, and still have Ignite 5 in Vegas.

But I have to say, Boris FX Continuum 2022 is a "swiss army knife".

Not to be negative, but i see nothing good all around for all flavors of FXHome line of products in the long run. I have been around long enough to know exactly of which i speak. I had lofty hopes for FXHome.... And to think Artlist is a stock video & Audio content provider !

Anyway, as you said, Boris FX is a swiss army knife, yes they are.... Their entire line is a solid investment.

Reyfox wrote on 11/23/2021, 8:49 AM

@Steve_Rhoden I got HFP at a great price and Ignite 5 as a Humble Bundle. I really hope that FXHome won't be squeezed too hard by Artlist. Competition is always good and keeps things moving forward.

But Boris FX keeps pushing forward. I no longer miss Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks, Cosmo, Knoll, etc... especially at the "to me" obscene subscription price it goes for.

@Reyfox True indeed about Red Giant. They are another major disappointment.... I loved Red Giant once and provided solid user feed-back & tests on their flagship Magic Bullet Looks back in the day.... But now with their expensive subscription plans and their new owners of greed, Maxon..... I have utterly dumped them and moved on.

Reyfox wrote on 11/23/2021, 12:03 PM

@Steve_Rhoden I think Boris saw that "hole" the Red Giant left and went about filling it. With Looks, I have a lot of presets to get started with. I still have MBL 2.0.4 and it works in both VP18 and VP19.

And NO FXHome Black Friday specials this year

From FXHome's forum:

https://community.fxhome.com/discussion/57699/2021-black-friday-discounts

From an FXHome staff member in the above thread:

This year we won't be holding a Black Friday sale. While we realize many people in our community look forward to this sale, we're working hard on some big changes, making the software more affordable for all users across the board! Stay tuned for details!

The thread has a lot of speculation about what this means for the future of HitFilm, but another staff member speculated that a subscription/purchase option (like Vegas Pro 19) might a possibility.

It could be that FXHome is just not wanting to encourage a lot of renewals via Black Friday in order to make the transition to whatever is coming easier by not having so many legacy customers from the long existing purchase arrangement.

It'll be a shame if this adversely effects the Vegas Post product; particularly Vegas Effects, as I find it a far better compositor than Vegas Pro itself (Vegas wins hands down as an NLE)
