no ram or disk usage meters

i just purchased vegas audio and upgraded my system to a piii 800 w/ 384 Mb Ram. I had been using pro and loved it, never a problem. Now on certain files (16bit, moderate track count, several plugins) there is significant dropout and gapping. my Ram and disk usage meters don't show anything. they're blank. any ideas?

What OS are you using?

I would have to guess that you're probably running up against IRQ issues. Your sound card is probably getting locked out by either a video card or your IDE controller. Most manufacturers put on board systems on the same IRQs as lower PCI slots (That 64-bit slot may end up being slower than the 32 bit one right above it), but I'm not personally familiar with the 1854. I'll do some looking and get back to this forum.

In the short-term, you could try moving your cards around (or setting different IRQs in the BIOS if such settings are available). It might also be a good idea to see if this gapping happens when the app is on either screen, as drawing takes quite a bit of bandwidth.
