No sound for playback in VOB file

I encoded my video in DVDA from an AVI file. I set the file size to about 4.65GB which it said was about 99% of allowable maximum. I click on file in explorer & find that it says file is only 4.32 GB. I have 5 VOB files & when I click on any one of these the video plays ok & the quality doesn't look too bad when I view it on my monitor. The only problem is that I have no sound. I stick in a comercially made DVD that I know has sound on it & go the same route of clicking on a VOB file for play. Again I have vision but no sound.

I seems likely thay the file I have just created might also have sound but somehow it's not being played. My system will play with sound CD's, MP3's etc or my video in preview mode in Vegas so I know the sound it working. Where do I look to fit this problem?

Size issue might be the difference between computer GB (explorer) is 1024*1024*1024 bytes, while "regular GB" is 1000*1000*1000.

When you click on VOB file - what program are you using to view the VOB file?. If you are using Vegas or DVDA - they will show the video only.
Use some other program - like winDVD.

Hope that helps, Udi

I was using Windows Media Player 9 to play files. This program has played my video files with sound before.

It seems as if the problem was something to do with a missing file. I got told to reinstall Power DVD which I did & I now have sound.

Just for the sake of mentioning it, a DVDA disk will play fine in my Set Top DVD players or on INTERVIDEO WIN DVD 5 If I use DVD X Copy express, the copies still play fine on set tops but will not play on WIN DVD 5 . Go Figure! ( I mean Pix is there but no sound!!! ) ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD FAST DVD COPIER FOR THE HOME MADE STUFF I DO ? NO CSS OR MACROVISION ON THESE DISKS, and only single layer DVD-R.

Try Veritas Record DX. You may even have it on your computer already!
