No sound from Line In with Video Capture

While using SF Video Capture 2.0e Build 77 I can see the video and hear the audio while capturing but during playback I have no audio. I am running my audio into the Line In jack on my sound card. If I run the line into my mic input I get audio captured with my video. Down side the mic input is that it has too much gain and I get overdriven distorted audio.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

My setup:
Rage Fury Pro VIVO card
SoundBlaster 16 PCI sound card
Sony analog HI-8 video camera.
- composite video output
- L/R line out

PS - I have the same problem with the Video capture software that ATI ships with the video board.

Thank you

The first place I'd check is the volume control.
Double click on the volume icon in the system tray. That should pop up the control box for the volume control.
Click on 'options', then 'properties'.
Click the radio button next to recording. It will display the different inputs to record. Make sure the 'Line' is checked. Click on 'OK', and it will display the screen showing the settings for the inputs.
Click the 'select' check box below the 'Line' control.
Adjust the slider to mid-range and close the window.
Now try capturing...

Hey Thanks for the tips.
I looked in the setup multimedia and found that the recording was turned off. Enabled this and this then opened up another menu when I click on the speaker icon in the system tray. Click Line In and now I have it. Thanks again for the help. THis was the last piece of the puzzle for me.
