No sound from video taken from TV

I have a Hauppauge TV connection on my computer and I'm trying to capture video/audio from it. Picture works ok, but no sound. When doing the capture, I can plainly hear the audio, but with I put the clip in Video Factory, the audio is flatlined - no sound. I get both video/audio when capturing from my Sony DV camera. The wierd thing is... I could swear that I used to get the audio, but don't now. I could be wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is the audio input for the Hauppage card enabled in the windows RECORD mixer?

Thanks for replying. I went into the Windows Sound recorder and made sure nothing was muted. Tried it again. No sound. When I watch the TV on the monitor, I can hear the sound, so it would have to be enabled in the first place. Can yo think of anything else that may cause this????

On the Windows Recording mixer, only one input can be active.

Windows has two mixers. One is playback, and you can mute and unmute as many sources as you want (this includes external sources as well). If you double click on an inactive area of the Playback mixer, you should get the recording Mixer. This is what you need to enable for the input to actually record.

OK, under Properties, I have the following listed. ALL are checked!

Volume Control, Wave, SW Sync, Stereo Wide CD PLayer, Microphone, Aux, Line In, Phone, PC Beep.

Which should be checked/unchecked?

IF they are all checked, then that is the PLAYBACK MIXER. Switch to the RECORDING MIXER.

Under OPTIONS, PROPERTIES, Adjust volume for RECORDING. Then enable the input for your audio.

(this is for the Windows Volume/Mixer Setup, if you are using another Mixer then use help to find how to get to the recording setup.)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!! IT WORKED!!! I was in the wrong mixer, like you suspected. Reason for doing this was that I have a 10 minute hot air balloon ride that my wife and I took on our 1st anniversary on VCR tape, and I wanted to play around with it in VF.

You are a god. Thank you very much again.

I am glad it worked for you. I learned the hard way myself. Have fun!!!
