No Sound in Vegas Studio 9

PS wrote on 1/5/2009, 7:55 AM
I have imported my movie files but there is no sound. Having watched a few tutorials I note that most users get a video timeline and a voice timeline when they drag the project movie clip down, I don't. The files are .mpg but I don't get sound with any of the movie files held on my pc whether they have been imported from my handycam, sent to me on email or downloaded from the web. I do get sound from them when they are played in real player, media player or in windows movie maker.

I have only just bought this software having got so frustrated with the publishing process in movie maker and would really appreciate some help.

Thanks
Paula

PS...

Sounds like a codec problem. I had a similar problem in August when I upgraded to VMS 9. Except, my problem was the opposite - audio with no video. Take a look at the following link to the thread that solved my problem. Codec problems can affect files in both ways from what I've seen here in the Forum.

Let us know how you made out with solving the problem.

I have installed both of these, now do I have to do anything else as I still have no sound in vms. Do I have to configure anything?

Thanks

Paula, if you can't see the audio waveforms aligned below the video on the VMS timeline, check you haven't unchecked 'capture audio' in preferences.

Look for something that's muted in the audio chain in VMS, you haven't killed the preview or master faders?

Cheers.
