no sound in Video CD

Ok, I am running into two problems:

1. When I use the Create a Video CD option, it renders fine, creates the VCD. Butm when I play it back it contacins no audio. What am I doing wrong here? The "include audio" option is selected. I am using the Mpeg 1.2 (I think). Any suggestions here would be very helpful.

2. Then, after #1 didn't work, I tried to just render it out to an .avi (NTSC DV) file. However, at random spots during the rendering it "funkifies" (that's a technical term) my video! It basically outputs segments of what looks like 16 bit color of my video at random spots. However, this same project plays back fine during preview.

Please help me! I'm deperate! :)

Thanks alot!

First question would be to ask where you are playing the VCD.

Does it play fine on the computer, but not good on a set-top box?

Does it not play correctly on either?

If you don't have VCD player software installed - you can open the MPEGAV folder to find the MPEG file - it will be named *.DAT, but Windows Media Player can play the file. Double-clicking won't work, but if you open Media Player and drag the file into it, it should play.

I am playing it on my PC and DVD player (which plays VCD). On my PC and on my DVD player the video is fine but there is no audio. But, if I don't use the "Burn VCD feature" and just render it as a regular Mpeg-1 VCD it works (both video and audio plays).
