No Sound in VV please help

Something strange happened, I started working on a new project and I don't get any sound while I am doing the editing. Doesn't matter what avi clips I import to the timeline I can't get audio.

If I open an older .veg file that I have from a a previous project, done about a week ago, then I have sound. If I bring in the avi files that would not play in a new project then they will play, so the files are OK. It is in a new project that I can't seem to get sound.

My tracks are not muted, going to Options>Preferences>Audio doesn't seem to shed any light on it. I am completely baffled.

Any of you have any thoughts, I am open to suggestions.

Look at the project properties audio - is the sample rate correct?

You can also select a project that work, save it with a new name and delete all the events, and clear the media pool - now you have a "new" project.

Hope it helps

The audio properties are the same for an old or a new project.

If I do as you suggest i.e. open an old project then start adding the avi files to it then I have sound. I am just unable to open a brand new project and place avi files into it and have sound. I must have accidently changed something but can't figure out what.

BTW thanks for your suggestions. Do u have any others...? -:)

Check the mute on the Master Mixer.

I just had the same exact problem last week, with new projects only - previous projects played audio okay. After much struggling, the problem was with the Master Mixer sending the audio to output 3/4, instead of 1/2. No idea how that happened, but by right-clicking on it and changing it to send to 1/2, the problem seems to be solved.
P.S. The week before that, I suddenly lost the preview window, but was able to get it back.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!

It was the Master Mixer, somehow I was sending the audio to the wrong output device. I have no idea how it happened.
