No sound with Video capture

I purchased Video Factory a few days ago. I liked the
features but I have two problems that I haven‘t been able
to solve.

First, I haven’t been able to capture sound with my video
captures. If I use other video capture software such as
the Microsoft software that came with Windows or the
software that came with my video card there is sound so I
know the system supports sound. In the Sonic Foundry Video
Capture program under Preference and the Capture Tab I have
checked “Capture Audio”. Video Capture currently produces
an .AVI file.

The second problem is that the captured video has
occasional horizontal green lines in the captured video.

I have a Compaq Presario computer with a 700 Mhz Duran
processor, Windows Me operating system, a 40 gigabyte hard
drive and 128 mb of memory. I am using an ATI All-in-
Wonder Radeon video card and Soundblaster 5.1 sound card.
I am trying to transfer from a Sony Hi8 video camera but I
have the same two problems if I try to capture a live TV
broadcast.

Thanks for your help,

David

Check your audio settings. Make sure the line level in or
microphone (depending on your sound card) is selected.

I posted the original request for help yesterday.

Thanks for your help. Per your suggestion I tried to check
line level in. I went to Control Panel, then to Sounds and
Multimedia. On the Audio tab page the Sound playback was:
SB live! Wave Out (the only available choice), Sound
Recording was SB Live! Wave In (only choice) and MIDI Music
Playback was A: SB Live! MIDI Synth (there were other SB
choice). By the way, SB is Soundblaster, my sound card.
On the Voice tab page the selections were also SB
variants.
In the Sonic Foundry Video Capture Program, the only choice
is SB Live! Wave In and it has a dot beside it so it seems
to be selected. Under Options, on the Preferences tab page
Capture Audio is selected. Where else should I go to make
sure line level in or microphone is selected?

Since I posted my note yesterday, I accidentally discovered
something that may be useful. I had a music CD playing
when I was trying to capture video. The captured clip
included video from the TV source but audio from the music
CD.

Thanks again.
