No Video Capture - Nada

kirkdickinson wrote on 8/4/2005, 8:20 PM
When I have Vegas open and click File/Capture Video, nothing happens.
NOTHING - ZILCH - NADA.

When I go to the Sony\Vegas 6.0 subdirectory and click on vidcap60.exe, nothing happens. NOTHING - ZILCH - NADA.

I opened the task manager and watched the processes and no new process is even started when I click on vidcap60.exe.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but it still does not work.

How can I get this working? I have a video that needs editing.

Thanks,

Kirk

1st thing you need to do is fill out your system specs, in your profile. This helps when troubleshooting without much information. You may also try a search as this has come up a lot lately.

Yup, Kirk, would help.

From your previous Posts here I can see you've done lots and lots of NLE activity.

Soooo.....

1/- Have you added or removed anything when it stopped working for you

2/- What do you shoot with?

3/- Exactly what media are you trying to capture your footage from?

4/- How have you got your media loaded ready for capture?

5/- What is the "route" your footage takes to get into Vegas? Camera? Deck? Firewire connection and/or USB? Capture card you use?

Let's get "Cooking!"

Regards,

Grazie

Please make sure you are running version 6.0b (current version, available for download http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/download/step2.asp?DID=579)

It sounds like you are running 6.0.0, installed from CD. There's a capture timeout problem in that build, fixed on the official launch day in a 6.0a build.

I just downloaded 6.0b last night. I have DSL on my home computer, but not the one at work. 93 MB is a little much for a dial up. Will test it today.

I don't know if I would say that I have done Lots and lots. I have done a little NLE.

1, Yes, brand new computer. AMD +4400 x2 with 4 Gig Ram - Raptor C Drive and WD 320 D drive.

2, Sony VX 2000.

3,4,5 DV through Firewire.

The program doesn't even pop up when you click on it. I don't think it even gets to the point where it matters how I am capturing.

Will update to 6.0b today and see if that helps.

Thanks,

Kirk

Seems like it would be nice if Vegas and MSDE could be separate downloads. That way we'd only have to download a much smaller file to get the updates. We could even skip downloading MSDE all together if we didn't want it. Actually this would make ACID downloads a lot smaller too. We'd only have to download MSDE once each time it has an update rather than every time Vegas or ACID is updated.

6.0b fixed the capture problem.
