No Video-just audio

I know it must be me...but I can't figure this out.

I just created a number of avi files in Camtasia. I want to do some editing in Vegas. In 8c there is no problem; browse to files in 8c explorer, drag to time line. Video and audio track shows up.

Do the same thing in 8.1 and all I get is the audio and no video on timeline. Even tried a right click and track and select video only. In that case I get nothing.

The codec used is the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec, 720x480, 15 fps., audio is pcm 44100, 16bit.

Am I missing some setting in 8.1??

Thanks in advance.

Galen

Vegas 64bit only supports certain 32bit codecs. Unfortunately there is currently no 64bit version of your codec.

I rather mischieviously wonder if it would be possible to add support for some codecs by changing around the filenames of DLLs and registry references to match those of supported 32bit codecs, but I am fairly sure it would not :)

Edit:

Oops, forgot to add my suggested workaround. Lagarith has a 64bit version. I would suggest you render it as a Lagarith video from the 32bit version of Vegas and then use that version for the 8.1 video. That should save you having to record the videos again, although the file sizes will most likely be quite a bit larger.

Robert,

Thanks for your explanation. Makes perfect sense. Guess I'll be sticking with 8c for awhile. Boy, I'm sure glad I bought my new quad core machine with all that memory:(
