I had that happen once. Normally, I get "Silent Movies" where there is no audio. only video. I did notice that the video effects are saved, but audio is gone.
I have yet to get both, I know it is supposed to be something that can happen, but I have not figured it out Sorry you are having that problem too.

Open a new vegas window, use the right project properties, copy/paste the timeline to the new window, and then export from that new timeline.

Thanks for that. I've copy and pasted into the timeline of another vegas window, but how do I export from the new timeline to the old?

You don't export the new timeline to the old, you just export the video in a video codec. That's what you are trying to do at the end, no?

I must be a bit thick. How do you make a video codec in the new timeline in order to be able to export it without rendering it?

This question does not make sense. Of course and you will have to render out again!

I'm sorry Eugenia but I don't understand what you mean. I copied and pasted all events from 1st timeline into 2nd timeline, then rendered in 2nd timeline (it was still black with only audio), then imported into the 1st timeline and re-rendered (which was still black with only audio).
Unless I'm missing something this is a one-off which can't be resolved.

Thanks anyway.

You are not supposed to re-import anything, you are supposed to only export from the 2nd timeline and use everything from there. However, even if this timeline was black, then start removing plugins to see if it fixes anything. And, do you get video while in the preview screen?

I'm having the same issue. Copying and pasting and exporting does absolutely nothing. The problem isn't with the video, the problem is the rendering process. My video starts rendering fine, then the preview goes black. The video will play fine in Vegas as well as other programs, but goes blank during the render process.
