Friend of mine asked me about this. Its an avi clip he got off his cheapo camera. If you just double click it the vid shows in Windows Media Player, but in Vegas all that shows up is the sound. Was a little bummed he stumped me, any clues ?

Maybe a codec problem? Although Vegas is reknown for taking just about anything you can throw at it. Is the *.avi a rendered file or raw DV from the camera? DGrob

Cheapo camera? Is this a digital still camera that also takes short movie clips? It probably uses the MJPEG codec. Do a quick forum search for mjpeg and morgan. You'll quickly find a few links to download the necessary codec.

The link above is to the actual file in question. I'll do some searches, but it appears to be an avi.

I tried your link but got "404 file not found error"s. Digital still cameras usually output their clips as .avi files encoded with the MJPEG codec.

Yep, it's an MJPEG file. VirtualDub opened it and i was able to save a uncompressed AVI version that loaded into Vegas showing both audio and video.
