Maybe somewhat - but from what I've hear (no personal experience - just posts on various threads) not really.

Of course lowering the wind noise and leave action does change the ambiance of the original situation. Do the participants require that it be
eliminated? You can reduce it a little at a time but it does start to affect the quality of the voices at a certain point. What the participants want and what you want are usually separated by vast margins. Wind and rustling leaves are a large part of life's grand experiences. I was at an outdoor Hawian wedding many years ago and eliminating the soft breezes would have made it very plastic.

I have used it for dealing with a wedding in surf at sunrise and many other situations. As said, I would not eliminate all of the ambient noise, but kicking it down a notch is important. Noise Reduction is excellent for this, but I would use it in Sound Forge not Vegas. You are talking delicate surgery in your situation. The wind is easy, the leaves are almost impossible. Noise is a steady sound. You are talking ambient audio here.

NR takes care and practice. Very small samples should be used. We are talking milliseconds here. Many passes with small samples work the best. In the hands of a construction worker instead of an artist or surgeon, it can creat a real mess.

There are limitations but it is worth the price and effort.

Have you considered ADR?

Sit 'em down with a mike and a TV screen.
