non-in-place plug-ins

Hi, I have just installed a new version of Waves L3 Compressor V10 plugin and it's showing as "Non-in-place" . (The FX Icon is yellow) How do I make it "In-Place" . ALL my other plugins work fine. Is this an error with Vegas 17??. Also With the L3 enabled, it was playing back with a stutter, but I've changed my playback buffer and it now plays ok but it's still "non-in-place" WHY??????? how can I fix this?? Many Thanks

There is a history of Waves in plug-in issues with Vegas and Sound Forge, sorry I do not have any recommendations. Stuttering and other glitches usually stop when the plug-in window is closed.
