The only way I know of doing it is to create a seperate
cell outside Vegas, in greyscale for alpha blending or
compositing or whatever that jazz is called, and using it
to make a custom transition. I've never used Vegas Video,
so I'm not entirely sure how this process works, but I'm
certain it's feasible.

Best wishes,

Create a high contrast bitmap of any shape you want (using
an external image editor), load that in Vegas, make that a
parent track above your video track. The hi-con image is
used as an alpha channel.

Use pan/crop to resize the alpha or, independently, the
video. Use track motion on the alpha track to resize both-

Thank you for your support.

One other question... in future versions of Vegas, will
this be easier to do? Because that's slightly complex,
especially for someone who doesn't have a decent image
editor. There should just be a "freelance" button that lets
you drag borders to wherever you want.
