NOOB QUESTION

Ok I get a vid from the net 5 meg edit with vegas all i did was blockout some spots.Now I have over 600 meg. then I change with I think what is TMPG
program to a 25 meg vid can I go smaller with another program This stuff is confusing I get the edit vegas part but not the reformat thing or whatever I need to shrink the file to put on my server thanks if that makes sense

the video downlaoded from the net was probley divx, mpeg, or wmx, correct? Also it was probley 320x240, correct? When you re-render it using the NTSC DV template it will be changed to DV format @ 720x480, hence the bigger size.

When you do "render as", shoose the appropriate output format. There's also a "custom" button and inside the window that pops up you have plenty of parameters you can play with.
Render "loop region only" (there's a switch for that) with a small segment of clip so you can quickly check out the result before making up your mind about your final render for the whole clip.

You should know that if you plan to do any editing to the clip, just re-rendering WILL result in a loss of quality (probley lots). I'd recomend converting it to DV then edit the DV file and render that to your desired result.
