I just burned my project in mpeg-2 format to a sony +R DVD disk. Works fine on my DVD player. I gave a copy to my parents, it would not work on their's. So i know why, because i guess their's would probably read a -R DVD disk right? If not what can i do so my parents can watch a disk that i burn. thanks.
My DVD is a DVD±RW/±R/CD-RW combo, can i just buy -R DVD blank disks to burn too?

You can certainly burn a -R disc in your drive, but that won't guarantee it will work. Chances are that your parents' player is too old to play home-made discs. Give it a shot and if it works, great! If not, then you might consider a $35 new DVD player from Wal*Mart as a nifty father's/monther's day present for them. :)
