hi all-- new user....finally canned Pinnacle! yahoooooo

Anyway, i had he video overlay track on my timeline when i first started...however, now i accidentily deleted it- How do i add a video overlay track back on the left side along with all the others? Also, i want to have words pop up on my video.... i try and do a text, but it just replaces the video, rather than appears on it---- is that need to be a video overlay too? i try the checkerboard to have it be transparent, but no luck-- thanks all!

We get a lot of Pinnacle victims over here -- welcome to Vegas, baby!

To insert a video track, click on an empty part of an existing video track header, then at the top menu bar select "Insert" and "Video Track". This will add a new video track directly above the one you had selected.

You can also right-click on an existing video track header and select "Insert Video Track".

You can have up to 4 video tracks total, and all tracks have the same capabilities. Even though a track might be labeled "Overlay" or "Text", you can put videos or still photos on them, etc.

If you want to change the order of tracks, you can just grab the track header and drag the track up or down to a new position. You can have up to 4 video tracks in Vegas Movie Studio (VMS).

Any video track above another video track is an overlay track. Place the text with the transparent background on a track above the video and it will show up over the video with the video visible behind it. For example, put the text on track one and the video on track 2. It doesn't matter what these tracks are called in the headers.
