Normalize acting weird

Is it just me or has the Normalize flag gone funny in the newest version of Vegas Audio?

I have a section of a sample that's *clearly* below maximum volume (I'm talking peak -12 dB here). When I switch on Normalize, it gives a value of -2.1 dB, actually *lowering* the volume. Not just this sample, Vegas does it all the time.

The Time Stretch / pitch shift values have also gone weird. I used to be able to stretch events at will with CTRL-mouse button, then change the mode from "Change length - preserve pitch" to "change length and pitch" and not have the length of the event change. Now it does.

Also, if I select a non-timestretched event and just change the mode to "change length and pitch" WITHOUT changing any values (leaving zero in all fields), the event length still changes. When I look at the event again, it shows a value of -24 semitones.

What's going on here?

Update: I checked out Vegas Video 3.0, and that one doesn't seem to have the Normalize bug any longer. But why should I upgrade from 2.x to 3.x just to get one bug fixed?

Perhaps I would upgrade, if 3.x had non-destructive audio event reversal (a feature many of us have been waiting for years), but no. Yes, I know I can always jump to Sound Forge to do the reversal, but that defeats the purpose of non-destructive editing.

I'm very disappointed. :(
