Not able to burn DVD as menu exceeds 1GB

I am a lady in my 70's and a total beginner. I have prepared and burnt several quite long family holiday DVD's but this time I have struck a problem. I have 53 minutes edited programmme ready to burn, that includes the video vision, added text, additional commentary, transistions, chapters and background music. I have rendered the project in Movie Studio Platinum 7, and then transferred it to the basic Architect Studio 4 which came with the Movie Studio purchase.I received a message on the screen "The total size of all menus cannot exceed 1 GB. Your project's estimated menu size exceeds the limit and your project cannot be prepared until you reduce the total menu size.. Estimated Project Size :2615 MB (56% of 4.7 GB.) How do I deal with the problem? Can I divide the project into two so that half is in Menu 1 and the other half is in Menu 2? I have never understood the principles of menus, so I have not used that feature before, but I understand that, by default, the entire project becomes Menu 1.I have looked in Architect Studio Quick Start Manual under menu information and also in the Online "Help" but it all seems lots of words and jargon. It is obvious that I have little understanding of the principles involved and I am in need of a simple and practical explanation. I hope someone will be able to solve my problem. Thanks

I guess you are using pictures or preview videos on the menus that are just too large. If that's the case, resize your pictures and videos before you use them on the menus (although leave as is the main videos.)

Thanks for your reply. I didn't add any photos, etc. I am only using the video that I filmed with the DVD camera. ( What do you actually mean by re-sizing?)

I think you dragged your movie to the central window in DVDA, but somehow made it into a background movie for the dvd theme. DVDa does allow this to create an animated background for a dvd theme, but the total menu size is limited.

Please follow this workflow:

1) Edit movie in VMS (with text, narration, pictures etc)
2) Render the movie in VMS to the mpg2 format
3) Start DVDarchitect and create a new project using a standard theme
4) In DVDAexplorer, find your movie and drag it to the central window.
5) You must now have screen with a small box showing your movie.
6) Prepare and burn the dvd.

Thank you Ivan. I have done the first two of your suggested steps, but, as you say, something must have gone wrong in the transfer to DVDA .I will try again. Joyles

You might have better luck by the following work flow:

> create a project through the DVDA wizard stating that you want menus
> Inside the LHS window you will see some icons. Right click your "menu 1"
> insert media
> select your film

Ok - now you have a menu with your film embedded inside it.

I hate reading manuals - but eventually you will get there. Try the animated tutorials on this topic - they are great.
