I'm having a problem making a movie to CD. Nothing happens, when I looked in properties/CD setting, the write drive says 'no device'. Help! My CD burner is working and everything is all updated. I'm using Video factory 2.
It's up to you how deeply you want to look into this, Lisa, but it could be some jumper settings on your CD burner.
1) Is your CD burner your master on channel 2? Generally these programs only look at the master drives on the 2nd channel. At least that's been my experience.
2) Check your BIOS settings to make sure that your CD burner is set as master on channel 2.
3) Have a look at your CD drive and make sure that the jumpers are set to Master. (This will probably entail removing it from your computer.) A lot of drives are simply set to let the software decide which is master and which is slave. This works fine most of the time -- but, when it doesn't, that's what's worked for me.
Finally, there's the possibility your CD burner just isn't compatible with the software. If so, the easy solution is the "burn" your VCD to your hard drive and then "burn" it to a CD using your burner's software.
And of course all of this is assuming you're using an internal, installed CD burner. If you're using an external burner, it may not work.
I've always had my optical drives configured as slaves - no problems so far! A couple of thoughts - can you rip audio CDs from that drive with VF? By default the burner window shows no device, but the drive is selectable.
Unfortunately grisetti, most of that was a wee bit above my head - lol. In the end I actually did what you suggested at the end, rendered it to my hard drive and then used other software to burn it to CD.
