Not selling Vegas! Plagiarism from Cow

Paul_Holmes wrote on 2/14/2003, 7:03 PM
Just saw this on the Cow Vegas Forum posted by DVForever:

Well, looks like the doomsayers were wrong and that SoFo isn't planning on selling it's software, but it's entertainment industry assets instead.
In fact: "Just since its official launch eight days ago (Feb. 6), Vegas+DVD is exhibiting the strongest upgrade cycle of any product sold in Sonic Foundry's history."

Read all about it in Sonic Foundry's First-Quarter Results for Fiscal 2003 Report:
here

No need to hold back your orders for Vegas !

"Simultaneously, the company also announced it has signed a Letter Of Intent for the sale of its entertainment industry assets for approximately $8 million cash, including an estimate for working capital."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who'd of thought just dropping "Video" from the Vegas name would have made SUCH a difference!?! LOL!

I was convinced that they would sell Vegas and other applications and I am very surprised that they did not----The company still has huge problems but I think this is a great opportunity to concentrate their efforts on what they do best---make the best mid-priced NLE and Sound applications in the universe----I am also happy for the development team that gave us Vegas et al. Its so nice to see that they will continue to oversee the evolution of this product.

Of course, if they supported the products I'd be happy. My request for service on Vegas 4.0 has gone more than three days after robo-response email, and I've gotten no reply nor resolution.

And this is the first time I've ever needed tech support - VV3.0 was sweet and stable. Not so 4.0.

SoFo Customer service told me they sold 150,000 units of V4 in the forst 24 hours it was released. Impressive.

150,000? Hmmm. If that's true, they just hexupled the size of the company in one day. Seems a bit extreme to me. Last I heard from last fall was that the Vegas user base was estimated to be about 80,000. While i suppose this rapid growth could be possible, i'll remain a bit skeptical. I certainly hope it's true though!

Which brings up my next question ... where are all these people and why aren't they joining us here in the forum? I wanna meet ALL of them! :)

Here I am. Mucho love VV-3, V-4 on way.I figure it will take me about
5 years to learn everything in V-4 predicated on my VV-3 learning cycle. If
it wasn't for this forum it would take 15 years.

I suppose a sales figure like that will include orders from shops etc - in other words items that are sold but has not yet reached a user.

As you know, we've sold a record amount of product in the last couple weeks, and our customer support staff is working though a small backlog of email. As well, our phone support hold times are somewhat longer than usual.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi all.
I'm new here, so please forgive me if make some goofs in navigating the threads.

Just wanted to say hello, and add that I'm glad to see the response to 4.0.
It grabbed me for sure, (I'd played with the Beta for a while), and I was happy to be one of those that bought the 4.0/DVD pack the first day it was released.

I'm sure I'll have a few questions from time-to-time.
Look forward to talking with you all.

Thanks
John
