Not Valid

I have the new MS Vista operating system and have installed Sony DVD studio 3 on to my new HP laptop.
When I try to Prepare my DVD project I get this error
"The selected folder is not valid it is ether not possible to create the folder or you do not have write permission"
I have administration rites and can create folders outside Architect the folder attribute is not set to read only.

There's been a few discussions about Sony on Vista -- check the Vegas forum as well. Sony does not currently have a product they support on Vista AFAIK...

That said, Vista is a new animal and it'll take a bit of learning. In your case 1st you aren't the admin - no one is unless you specifically enable & then create a separate admin acct. 2nd, there is no c:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp\ folder anymore -- this is just a pointer to another folder... You might or might not get away with changing the defaults in preferences -- it didn't help with another user.

I got support for another program that seems to work for Vegas as well
Right click the install file select from the drop down menu "Run as a administrator" install.
Right click the program file select from the drop down menu "Run as a administrator"
and so far all is well
Hope this helps somone.

That's good news! Thank You.

Did you get DVDA working as well?

There was another thread reporting that it wouldn't create/prepare DVD, despite compatibility or run settings or I believe installing as admin.

If it helps, a couple of things to maybe watch for, it was posted that Vista uses a new type of help file, & that that could cause problems. And based on this blog & the links it contains, might double check any avi files if using them.
