Notebook Bliss

I just wanted to share my experiences with our new editing laptop from Prostar (www.pro-star.com).

Our old notebook editor was a Compaq 2700T 1.2 ghz PIII. I must say that although we got 2 and 1/2 years of excellent performance from that machine the brute power of the new one is quite a breath of fresh air. The new configuration is 3.4 ghz, 1 gig DDR, 256 video ram, ultra wide screen display, full size numeric keypad, 60 gig 7200rpm system drive, 4x dvd burner, integrated multi card reader, 3 USB2 ports, firewire, SVHS out.

Getting a nice 1.2 score on the Vegas render test. Editing to mpeg2 takes about 1 minute 10 secs for a minute of video. Pre-renders are faster than real time. Can't wait to start a new project tomorrow.
