Notice the Cinescore deal? !!

epirb wrote on 9/12/2006, 4:35 AM
I mentioned in a thread a while back that it would be nice if they offered a deal on the Cinescore software when upgrading , seeing as it will work as a plug in.
THEY DID IT !! and better than I expected anyway you get the Cinescore software plus the both addtional music packs for $149.00
when you upgrade. That did it for me,no brainer,
"I'll take the side order of Cinescore with my meal when I order"!

So you did ....: ) man Im just getting dizzy bouncing around all the new posts and new topics that sometimes cover the same thing as another or talk about something different.
But to be expected when a new release comes out.

im definatley gonna take up on that offer

149.95 V7 & DVDA4 Upgrade and 149.95 Cinescore with both new theme packs. How can you pass that up ?!
just thinking about it some more....
Even if Cinescore scores two songs for you, you've paid what you easlily would have paid for 2 royalty free music tracks.

It's great for everyone that didn't buy Cinescore when it was released for $173!

I was one of the misfortunate people that didn't wait to buy Cinescore, I wish they would give you the option of buying just the new theme packs at a discounted price.

As with everything in the technology world…. patience saves you $$$

"149.95 V7 & DVDA4 Upgrade"

How did you get that great price? I haven't received an email yet offering the special price to upgrade in the first 30 days.... and the website shows about $100 more than that...to upgrade

Write contact customer service and ask. I had a similar issue back when they released the AC-3 encoder and then included it free with Vegas4+DVD a little over month later. They gave me a lower price on the Vegas4 upgrade because I already had the encoder.

I bought Cinescore + two theme packs for $400+ at Aug 6'th. When I read about this new offer, I immediately contacted customer support. The answer is here:
"Thanks for writing.

I apologize, we do not give rebates or retroactive discounts for purchases over 30 days old. I apologize for this inconvenience.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have follow up questions or need further assistance with this issue, please update this incident.

Sincerely,

So it seems that by missing this unknown deadline with less than 6 days, I'll end up paying $250+ more of the V7+DVDA4+CC -combo than it would have been IF Sony would be more open of their upcoming offers.

It seems that CC has been severely lagging of sales, otherwise there would've not been any real reason to give this aggressive offer.

They should refund everyone who has paid full price of CC and intend to get V7 upgrade.

For some reason I feel angry and stupid. The latter of course being my normal state. And when I think about it so is the first...

They got me in - could not resist the package cost. I wonder how long it will take to ship to the land of oz?

Ship? You didn't take the download option?? ;)

Damn, MRe, I feel for you... it was only dumb luck that kept me from losing the same amount of money.
rique wrote on 9/12/2006, 10:36 PM
Sorry to hear that. You really didn't do anything stupid. I'd be pissed too.
DavidMcKnight wrote on 9/12/2006, 11:29 PM
MRe, I understand exactly how you feel as a consumer, but a company has to draw a line somewhere. I had it happen to me with Digital Juice, and boy was I pissed. I bought from the cheapest online retailer I could find, and within 45 days or so DJ cut the price of the WETK in half. DJ wouldn't refund nor would the retailer.

Their argument (and Sony's), and it's valid, is that you've gotten benefit from the product for that amount of time. Yeah it still sucks, but I can see their point.
MRe wrote on 9/13/2006, 12:08 AM
Yes. I understand Sony's point and I'm mostly mad against myself because I was stupid enough to buy the product before I actually started to use it. This can actually be verified from Cinescore forum, where I posted an error concerning missing "Show Me"-component and it is dated 8/30/2006, which was the date I installed the 1.0a and registered it.

The lesson learned: Don't buy anything if you do not intend to use it immediately.

Also if I'd use the app for any commercial work, I probably could've benefitted using it for longer time and probably already billed customers of the end-result but I'm only doing this as a hobby.

But as I said: there is always a lesson to learn everywhere. Not going to give my $150 to Sony before Oct 31. I already paid for CC more than V7+DVDA4+CC combined with this offer...

bStro - I didn't see any download option for the particular offer, but have downloaded the trial version anyway, and don't mind having discs etc. anyway for once.
douglas_clark wrote on 9/13/2006, 3:13 AM
I bought V7 with the CS deal, too. Shipped to DK. I think the Cinescore download only includes 2 themes, so you need the disks to get them all. (or maybe that was just true for the trial version ??)

I wasn't planning on buying CineScore at all. I've been reasonably happy with SmartSound and about 10 of their theme packs. But when Sony integrated CineScore with Vegas and dropped the price, I couldn't resist. Sure will speed up the work flow and make fine tuning of the mix much easier.

Anybody know roughly how many new theme packs might be offered each year?
