ntdll.dll crashes

I am experiencing random ntdll.dll crashes when using Vegas Movie Studio Platnum 9.0b - 72

At first I thought it was a rendering issue, but then realized that it happens in any operation. I can usually go about 15 min. after a clean Op Sys reboot. After the first crash, I can use the software for shorter periods of time, until I need to reboot the Op Sys again. I can never simply view a project that is longer than 15 min. nor can I render anything regardless of settings because rendering takes more than 15 min.

I have tried shutting down all non MS processes and services with no change in the problem. Even with Vegas as the only running program (other then essential services and processes) the problem continues to happen.

Vegas is the only program on the machine experiencing this issue. It happens in Vegas in multiple different projects, at different times, and while doing different operations (dragging to the time-line, previewing, rendering, etc.)

After hours of trial and error, I discovered that I can recreate the same exact (word for word) error when it crashes, regardless of where I am at in the Vegas software. The error message is as follows...

App Crash: SonyMovieSudio 9.0.0.92
Time Stamp: 48e14e0f
Fault Module: ntdll.dll
Version: 6.0.6001.18000

Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00067e74
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1

Machine Information:
Dell XPS M1710 Laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 MHz
4 Gig Ram
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX
Vista Ultimate 32bit SP1

I would sure appreciate some help on this. Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have Vegas installed on the Windows partition.

I've had VMS8 and VMS6 installed on the D: drive for as long as I can remember with Windows XP always having been installed on the C: drive and I haven't had any such such problem. Granted, I'm not using VMS9, so maybe requirements are different for VMS9?
