NTSC DV Widescreen vs PAL DV Widescreen

I am looking to transfer non-HD video that was recorded in widescreen format. I am not familiar with the different formats of NTSC DV Widescreen vs. PAL DV Widescreen. Does anyone have a recommendation on what I should be using and why? Also, I see a HDV 1080 format as well. Even though the pictures were not taken in HD, does it make sense to use that format at all?

I am using VMS Platinum 6.0.

Thanks, Shooter71

What do you mean "transfer"? Do you mean CAPTURING from tape, or EXPORTING to a DVD? If you mean capturing, just use the NTSC DV Widescreen mode to capture from tape. If you are talking about exporting to DVD, edit in HD, and then select the right mpeg2 NTSC widescreen template from the exporting menus, along with the AC3 for audio (exported separately from video).
