NTSC to Pal conversion

I have some video commercials that have to be converted or created in PAL format.

What is my best bet for quality. I read on another forum that the Vegas conversion is not "good enough". Is this a fair assessment? Canopus makes a converter also is this one better? If so how much better. A lot better, or marginally better?

What would be the best procedure. I am shooting mostly on a Sony DSR 200a and some footage from a DSR 300.
Then I planned on editing in Vegas.
Suggestions welcome.
Thank you in advance,
W

Canopus Procoder is a good piece of kit. Great MPEG-2 quality (lots of custom settings) & it will convert basically anything you can get Media player to play. It's pretty quick to. I haven't had to use it for NTSC/PAL conversion so I can't give you comparison notes, though it is reported to do the job very well.

Hi-

I have only tried it once, due to lack of need, but was very happy with the results of converting NTSC to PAL with Vegas.

If you own Vegas, give it a try. If you don't, you are welcome to send me up to a minute of footage and I will convert it and send it back. stephen@mvweb.com for address info.
