NVENC not working?

rainy wrote on 7/13/2020, 4:21 AM

Hi,

Movie Studio does not seem to be using NVENC properly.

I used this setting, but checking in the task manager the GPU is only 3%, same as when rendering is not started.

on gpu_video_x64.log it seems fine as well

An 3 minute video took 10 minute to render, no FX, some cuts.

Do I need to purchase Movie Studio Pro to utilize the GPU?

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070

Operating System
  Platform: Windows 10.0 (64-bit)
  Version: 10.00.18362
  Language: English
  System locale: English
  User locale: English

Processor
  Class: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz
  Identifier: GenuineIntel
  Number of processors: 12

Display
  Primary: 3840x2160x32

Memory
  Physical memory: 32,694.7 MB

Also, is there any email / support I can write to for official tech support?

Mine uses it, look

What is the exact driverversion for the Nvidia GPU you use?
You need the latest Studio driver.

I'm glad that yours does.

Is this driver latest enough?

I have edited my post to add more screenshot for my source file and settings.

Kind regards.

What should I look out for if my source file to be compatible with NVENC ?

j-v wrote on 7/13/2020, 6:08 AM

When I do the same but render to the framerate I always use and the same as my source the GPU help is even better.

What should I look out for if my source file to be compatible with NVENC ?

1. If the GPU is used as you did.
2. To compare it with render to this one

I have updated the driver.

Is that all there is, really?

KenB wrote on 7/13/2020, 9:45 AM

According to your last screenshot of Task Manager, you haven't updated the driver. It should look like this:

Ken.

Vegas Pro 18.0 (Build 284)
OS: Windows 10 Pro 2004
CPU: Intel Core (4th gen) i7-4790 @ 3.60GHz (HD Graphics 4600 - driver 15.40.46.5144)
Memory: 32GB DDR3
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 SUPER - driver 452.06
Monitor: 1920x1080x32

Sorry about that.

But the results is the same :(

j-v wrote on 7/13/2020, 12:17 PM

It is working but very low.
I see your memory load is very high, that looks not normal to me.
How much programs are loaded at the same time?
Also possible when due to a fault in the Windows settings your memory is not refreshing itself, compare it with to load of the screenshots of @FayFen and myself. My load is with a long 4K 50p AVC file.

Sorry, memory at 64% doesn't sound like a memory problem to me.

Or there are ways to make Movie Studio to allocate more ram to help rendering? I guess that's probably Vegas Pro level.

Any other bright ideas you would like to throw at besides wiping my computer off and reinstall a new windows? :|

AFAIK VMS still doesn't like variable framerate which your media has according your mediainfo. Due to this variable framerate VMS uses resampling during rendering which takes a lot more effort to render. Probably this causes your slow render.

v17 didn't like the saved templates I had, but I made new ones and it's using my (older) card. I see about 50-60% GPU utilization when rendering.
