Nvidia 630M - GPU support?

I just opened the box yesterday on an ASUS u46 laptop with a Nvidia 630M card which I plan on using for mobile editing. When I installed V11(64bit) and then NB Pro Titler, V11 would not open completely due to a message saying that the computer didn't have the GPU support for NB OFX - but when I closed the box, instead of ignoring it, V11 fails to load.

I uninstalled NB Titler, and V11 runs fine, with GPU acceleration and without, and is actually more stable (i.e., not crashing when messing with the GPU accelerated plugins unlike my desktop which is a beefier system- go figure.)

Somehow it appears that the NB installation doesn't recognize that the Nvidia card does support GPU acceleration it seems.

Just an interesting observation. Luckily, I don't rely on the NB plugin. BTW, the solid state drive on this little laptop makes it screamin' fast. Sweet.

You're using a mobile video card which will run in two modes:

1. Full powered compatible mode
2. Low powered not-compatible mode

You must make sure it is always running in full powered mode when running Vegas. You may find a BIOS setting to turn it on full all the time. You can also try this:

a. Open Control Panel -> Nvidia control panel (if you don't have one, install nvidia drivers from nvidia.com).
b. 3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings - >Program Settings.
c. Select Vegas.exe from the list or add the programs using the browser.
d. Choose option "High-performance NVIDIA processor", if there is this option.

Also, make sure you go to NVidia's website and download the current driver fro the card.

Thanks - I did check to be sure it was on High Performance but with NB installed, it still wouldn't launch. V11 does run well without though.

Good idea though to adjust the setting automatically in the Nvidia control panel.

Thanks, Ed.
