Nvidia CUDA Technology

As an additional thread to the one posted earlier regarding selecting new components for a new computer, does VMS, or Vegas Pro take advantage of the new technology in the Nvidia Graphics cards using the CUDA technology ?

I own a recording studio and some applications are already taking advantage of this new technology. This technology would be a huge boost in performance for video editing.

No, Vegas very unfortunately does not take advantage of CUDA. Which is a shame, because most of the Vegas crashes happen with h.264 non-AVCHD footage (either when editing using the Quicktime decoder, or when exporting using SonyAVC).

I am personally a big proponent for hardware acceleration on editing suites. Hopefully one day they will become true.

Yeah, that is too bad Eugenia. As well all know, video editing is extremely taxing on the CPU, even if you have the latest i7, so hardware acceleration is a big, big plus. Maybe at some point in the future...hint...hint...

This is exactly what music composers for film are doing. One computer is for one set of symphonic sounds, the next computer does something else...etc... Yet, they are digitally linked together and are frame accurate.

You know, I don't know a whole lot about this subject, I just recall reading this thread over in the "Vegas Pro" Forum.

While it's doesn't have anything to do with hardware acceleration, you are aware that Vegas Pro has a Network Render feature that will allow you render on separate/networked computers? I know we're in the "Vegas Movie Studio" Forum - I don't know whether Movie Studio has this feature or not.
