You remember how LONG Max&Min FX used to take? It would take that long that I couldn't be arsed to wait and SEE what I could get! THAT'S how long . ..

Well, cherubs and cherubims, this QUADIE now makes it possible for me to "experience" that which I want to experiment with. For me this is a whole new gorgeous avenue to explore. Really, Madison - Well Done! .. I've now got motion waterfalls taking on a Cézanne-like look.

At present I've got, FX-ing : Max&Min + 2xSharpens + Colour Curves + Colour Corrector.

I did a Preview Quallie of Shift+B - which happened in something like 1/4 real time - and I am now looking and auditioning my efforts.

I think, by now, you can all tell that I'm very excited.

I myself am finding things about editing in Vegas Pro that were constant issues for me in Adobe's apps.

It's a great time to be a Vegas user.

I noticed your post and I'm also interested in moving to a quad core soon. Experienced in bulding systems and being a Newegg shopper myself, can any of you suggest some brand/models to go for in terms of processor,ram, and mobo. Stability is a must along with bang for the buck.

What $ would i be looking at (roughly) in the above quad/2-4 gig ram/mobo purchase?

The mobo being most important and the toughie...I need at least 3 standard PCI slots for a quad ready mobo (NOT pci-e, - standard pci).
* for my audio cards (i will not go fwire, it just isn't as solid for my I/O needs as my workhorse pci audio cards).
Any help or suggestions there would be grand.

I have an AMD X2 4400+ right now with 2gig ram, and want to add a new quad sys soon.

Well I was thinking of a Q6700 ($539.00) but then the AMD Phenom came out for $239.00 for the AM2+ motherboards of which I like the Gigabyte brand. One thing for sure I will be going to a SATA 300 gig 16meg cache "C" drive and partition it for XP and Vista 64. The SATA "C" drive blows away your boot up time to 27 seconds complete with antivirus running. This is on "mom's" machine right now and it blows away my movie computer. The DDR3 memory is outragous now in cost so I was thinking of 8 gig of DDR2 1066 for $449.00. Also looking at a Sony BWU200S Bluray burner ($600.00 ouch) . Then a Sony BDP500S player at B & H Photo for $449.00 and a Toshiba HDA-35 player for $349.00. If I were you I would check with John at Craftech as he has the pulse on all this stuff.

Just did the update myself, Q6600 is what I and many other here got. Lucked out and got a G0.
Got an ASUS P5K deluxe wifi MB not crazy about it, the bois on the one i got was out of date and gave an error on the new processor. But after some messing around withthe bios update all is working fine.But i need a board with 2 PCI-E slots and 3 PCI's
I dont think its worth getting more than 2 gigs of RAm if your still on win XP32 bit like me , It wont see/ utilize it.

just getting things reloaded but so far its seems to screem.

I got a Q6600 running on a gigabyte mobo - enjoying it a lot - 8GB DDR2 6400. It's been really good with bios - I've been playing a little more than one should, and it's so forgiving and helpful when you get stuff wrong..
