O/T: more Mercalli

I have been trying out Mercalli V2(SAL) and am a little puzzled by the exported file options.
Choices are limited to Lagarith & the Cineform(GoPro 7.6.2) since I declined to install the k-lite codec pack

MediaInfo shows that GoPro is progessive whist the 'lag file'is not defined

Video

Format : CineForm
Codec ID : CFHD
Codec ID/Info : CineForm 10-bit Visually Perfect HD (Wavelet)
Duration : 8s 160ms
Bit rate : 79.0 Mbps
Width : 1 440 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Scan type : Progressive
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 2.031
Stream size : 76.8 MiB (98%)

Video
ID : 0
Format : Lagarith
Codec ID : LAGS
Duration : 8s 160ms
Bit rate : 267 Mbps
Width : 1 440 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Color space : RGB
Bit depth : 8 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 6.856
Stream size : 259 MiB (99%)

Both files look OK when dropped onto a standard PAL HDV timeline set for .m2t files.(interlaced)

From the experts point of view is there a preferred choice?

Thanks Geoff

Geoff,

Interesting. I see what you see when using MediaInfo on the exports.

However, if you use the "Match Media Settings" wizard from the Vegas Project Settings panel, Vegas sees both the Lags & Cineform as Interaced.

I suspect there's either a bug in Mercalli or MediaInfo.

Notice you are also missing the color space.

Okay, I made a couple test renders from Sony Vegas and it seems to confirm a bug in MediaInfo as both renders were Interlaced and the MediaInfo stats looked just like the ones from Mercalli (i.e. Lags did not show a scan type & Cineform showed a scan type of Progressive).

DaveT2: Color space got lost in cut&paste

Jerry : Match Media Settings checked and both files show UFF.

Another odd descrepancy. Starting with a m2t file in mercalli I see an error
message to the effect that mainconcept the audio multiplexor is not recognized.
No big deal so switch audio off and export to avi with no audio. Put the stabilised clip
on the timeline and add audio from the origonal m2t. Audio file is a tad longer (4 frames in 225).
Using vegas to convert m2t file to cineform or lags frame lengths perfect.

MP4 files double in length and appear slo-mo. For the present I simply drag clip back to match the audio length.

Prodads' stock answer is to install k-lite.

However; looks like I am on the right track.

Thanks for confirming.
