I'm surprised to see DVDA2 still has no means of defining object navigation order.

Select any link on your menu and check the Button Properties -> Navigation section of the Properties window. For each navigation button on your remote (left, right, up, down) you can choose ANY link on that menu to navigate to.

Is that what you're looking for?

I know the first object can be set by sending it to the back.

BTW, you can also change the links' order by moving them around in the Project Overview window... The first item in the list is first, the second item is second, etc. This does not change the position of the buttons on the menu at all.

Thanks for posting that one Bstro.

I'm surprised that the originator of this thread hadn't bothered to check that feature out yet.

kameronj, I spend a great deal of time trying to solve problems on my own and before going to the forum by referring to the manual, spot's DVDs, book, etc. I believe this is the best way to learn. So please don't take issue with my question or assume I haven't "bothered to check that feature out yet".

Thanks bStro, but I think we're talking about two different topics. I'm not referring to assigning button properties. I realize actions/destinations can be assigned to buttons, which is a new feature in DVDA2.

I'm referring to the order by which menu buttons are selected when using the up/down and left/right buttons on the remote control in the preview window or a physical remote control.

In DVDA1, you could not define the order at which menu buttons were selected when hitting the up/down or left/right arrow buttons. Most of the time it works OK, but sometimes the button navigation order is not what you would expect. DVDA1would use an algorithm to determine the shortest distance to the next button, which wasn't always the closest button.

As far as I can tell, DVDA2 acts exactly the same. The only way I know of to affect the navigation order is to rearrange the menu buttons slightly to acheive the desired order. And the first button to be selected when going to a page can be set by selecting the button and sending it to the back.

Dave.

Um, David? Did you even read my note?

My note said nothing and had nothing to do with end actions or destinations.

It had everything to do with navigation (up, down, left, right) buttons on your remote, and the navigation controls are listed under Button Properties. You and I are talking about the exact same thing, and DVDA2 does it. Rre-read my note and follow the instructions I gave. If that's not enough, check page 49 of the DVDA2 New Features file or page 47 of the DVDA 2 Manual.

Or perhaps a screenshot?

bstro, many thanks. I was unusually thick last night and just wasn't getting it. And unfortunately I couldn't try your suggestion until this morning. And I also found the description in the manual on page 47 and I'm embarrassed that I missed it. My bad.

Button navigation works just as you explained. It's great!

Thanks for your patience and walking me through this.
