odd cc'ing problem / issue

I have a project where multiple clips needed the same color correcting applied. Instead of applying to each individual events, I applied it to a track and put all offending clips on that track.

At the end I needed to crossfaded into some non-cc'd footage, obviously on another track - when I put it on the track below, and manually faded the event end on the cc'd track - the cc'ing is getting applied to the track below until the fade is done, then it goes into non-cc'd, like it should be.

If I put it on the track above and fade the non-cc'd in, it doesnt do it - but it shoulding matter beinbg above or below, as on track level fx should effect tracks below -

I am using v5 for this project.

You're not really seeing the correction being applied to the lower track, you're seeing the overlaid image that has the correction applied. Place the correction on the event being faded from, and you'll likely see the exact same behavior.
Unless by chance, you're using expanded tracks using an A/B roll view, and applying correction on one of those tracks?

no a/b, or parenting (I wanted to make sure of that prior to posting)

I agree about the overlayed image, but the cc doesnt fade out, it stops at the event end point, instead of fading out (which would make sense due to it being event level)

I just assumed it would show through - I fied it as stated by putting it on top, no worries about it being the bottom layer, it just struck me as odd
