Odd CD burning behavior

1) Using 4.0d when I burn a CD with the pre-render check box checked the last 2.00 seconds of the last track is muted. To date I’ve burned 4 coasters, all identical. This is not random and the 2.00 seconds is quite precise. I put 10 tracks onto the timeline at once by selecting them in the explorer and right clicking add to CD track. Burn another CD without the pre-render at 4x and all is well even with buffer under runs. Same results on the Plextor and Pioneer A06.

2) Rendering 52min. to a .wav file takes 13 minutes. The pre-render before burning option takes only 50 seconds. Everything is 44.1. Given that I’m using 1 copy of Izotope Ozone (a pig) and noise reduction 13 minutes is in the ballpark. How can it do a pre-burn rendering in just 50 seconds?

3) If I select 1x or 2x the data burn occurs at 4x on both burners. The lead in seems to burn at 1x or 2x as selected. I wanted to use 2x because the buffer under runs at 4x without the pre-render.

My first reply from customer service was a canned check all this stuff and then re-install and let me know what happened. We’ll see what the next one is. The system (XP) is real clean and Vegas works very well in all other areas including video capture. I really don’t want to go through the hassle of re-installing and re-licensing noise reduction (Vegas is easy though). Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Larry
