For me it is time now to get working in 64 bit 100%. I really like the feel and resonsivness of 64 compared to 32. Smoother, more ram, projects load faster, slightly better streaming, etc.
I've tested MXF enough now to be convinced about how good it is... I finished an architectural video project this morning and did that using MXF all the way. I got the quality I wanted and the editing session was alot smoother than with Cineform.
(I also - for fun - tried the following. I threw in the *uncompressed* AVIs of the footage in the project folder where I had the MXFs. No visible difference. But it proves that *WORKING* with MXF is great. If you for a perfectionistic reason want to be *absolutely* sure you have the theoretically very best - simply throw in the uncompressed AVIs when rendering. And thats fully 64 bit compatible and it saves you any messing with Cineform.)
(I had already transferred my trimmed footage from 5D2 to uncompr AVIs, so these were my new master footage files. Yes, takes up some backup drive space but there are cheap 1.5 TB drives out there today...)
64 bit *is* better than 32 bit. Now that I can run MXF in 64 and enjoy the good things with 64 (finally after having gone to MXF!) - I want the excellent product *CINESCORE* to work in 64 bit too! This is something one would think Sony has total control over. So why not try to push that issue a little... Being able to use CInescore in 64 bit is *a lot* more important now for me than testing codecs...
With CINESCORE in 64 I would have:
a) A platform where a fast and good codec *WORKS"! (MXF).
b) A smooth running OS that enables me to use more RAM and that gives better performance, I definitely prefer Vista 64 over 32 bit and definitely over VP 32bit in XP 32... (The difference between VP9 64 bit and VP8 in XP 32 is actually very big.)
c) The possiblity to use CINESCORE simply and directly in my 64 bit environment! I would need only ONE version of Vegas Pro 9... If now Cinecsore worked in 64...
64 bit is here to stay and Sony with its excellent MXF should not force me to stay in the 32 bit world just becasue of Cinescore....
*****************************************************
Please, please, please make CInescore work in VP9 64 bit for Vista 64!
*****************************************************
With a 64 bit package like that, Vegas Pro 9 would be a very competitive and capable product! And not relying on any third party stuff for basic functionality that just takes up lots of time...
