Old CD-R drive recognition using a new OS

My CD-R/RW drive, an LG Electronics CED-8080B, used to work with CD-Architect despite not being on the list of supported drives. Before, I was running Windows 98. I just switched to Win2000 and now CD-Architect doesn't recognize the same drive it used before.

From the looks of other postings on this forum, it doesn't seem that buying a new CD-R drive is the solution. Any ideas on how I can get my old drive to work again with CD-Architect?

Thanks

Make sure you update to CD-A 4.0G available from www.sonicfoundry.com/download under the *Updates* section. Now that you are under a new OS, Windows may be detecting the drive differently than before. Check with the manufacturer of the drive and verify that you have the most updated firmware for the drive. Also go to Adaptec's website and download the latest version of ASPI (version 4.71).

I have the same problem re CD-R and CD-RW recognition. I've been writing to the SonicFoundry Technitcal Department for almost a month. Anything I try doesn't work. I was told to update the version of ASPI on my computer. Before I did that - the burner - Sony CD Extreme was listed - now it says, "no device listed".

I have Acid Music 2.O and Acid Music 3.0. I had a virus on my computer and had to reprogram everything. The original program I had worked fine. I was able to make CD's.

The technician told me to update the version of ASPI. I'm sorry I did. I have a Sony CD Extreme burner and it is no longer recognizing it. I get the message "no device listed."

Every time I try to save on the D drive - I get a message "You Do Not Have Permission to Open this file." I'm not trying to open - I'm trying to save it.

This situation is really frustrating. Please let me know if you solved your problem and what you did. Much appreciated.

Try the CD-R device select setting 'ATAPI MMC compatible drive.'

...and try 'Compatibility Mode' on the shortcut properties.
