Old files won't burn on a single disk anymore

I have been making DVD movies out of my vacation videos and pictures using Vegas Pro + DVD. I Render a Vegas MPG2 at the best settings and I have always been able to burn a 1:38 long movie onto a 4.7GB DVD using DVDA. Recently I pulled all the neccessary files for one of my older movies from backup disks to burn another copy of the movie. DVDA is telling me it won't fit on a 4.7GB disk anymore. I have done a hundred movies this way since 2001 and never had a problem. Obviously upgrading to newer versions of the software has caused a problem. I don't remember the versions of the software used to create the files and burn the disk in this example. (Created in 2003) The current version I am using now that's giving me the trouble is Vegas 6.0d and DVDA 3.0c. Is anyone else having this problem and might know why it's happening? It seems to me newer verions of the software should get better, not worse: that is fit more movie on a disk, not less.

Ignore the message and prepare the disc as-is.
See what DVDA says the file size is after preparation.
If your files haven't been changed, everything should be fine.

The render and preparation were run when DVDA says it won't fit. If I continue DVDA just kicks out the blank disk saying it can't do it. Remember these are the same files I used to burn the original disc. Nothing has been changed other than a new version of DVDA.

What size does it say the disk will be?

Looking at my first response, I wasn't very clear.
I meant to suggest that you prepare the folders, and not burn the disc yet.
Sorry I wasn't clearer about that. They are two different buttons.
If your files fit the first time and have not been changed, then you should be able to prepare the folders, and burn them to disc in separate steps.

Thanks for the response from you guys. Here's what else I know.
I prepared the files separately from the burn process. DVDA says the size will be 5,362.6 GB, 115% of 4.7GB disc.
I also totaled the size of all the files in the prepare folder and they come up 5,114 GB.
The new version of DVDA apparantly preparded the files differently. I can't ask Sony because my software is out of support.

What's the total size of the source files? The simplest solution would be to use DVDA's Fit to disc option. An alternative is to use DVDShrink to reduce the size of the prepared files.
